Summer at the Depot
Here is our building at the height of summer. Blue skies, flowers in full bloom, and great weather for bike riding. It doesn’t get much better than this.
Fall
Great times riding local trails in the season of fall.
Beartooth Pass
This grand view appears shortly after reaching the summit of Beartooth Pass in Wyoming. Then, once you’ve taken in the view get ready for a fun, fast descent. You never quite know what weather conditions you’ll get at the top in mid-June, which is the time of year our now semi-annual trip pays it’s visit. One thing that can be counted on is high-quality road riding for three consecutive days in one of the most scenic parts of the country.
Monster Trike
Fact: recumbent trikes are cool. The Rambler from TerraTrike is no exception. The Rambler’s 24” knobby tires gives the trike the capability to go off the beaten path. This particular trike that we built for a customer is extra neat because it features a Rohloff Speedhub. If you aren’t familiar with Rohloff you should definitely check them out! And if you are curious about trikes stop in today to see our selection and take one for a test ride!
Larry!
In February 2019 Larry gave our building’s “Fargo” sign a fresh coat of paint. Here he poses with his finished work in front of where the sign lives on our historic building.
Snow Season Covered with Fat Bikes!
Fat bikes have now been around a while and we know all that they are capable of, but that doesn’t mean they are a thing of the past! Now with better riding infrastructure in our area for fat bikes, like groomed trails, there’s more reason than ever to add one to your bike stable.
GNBC Travels
Our bikes take us to some pretty awesome places. Here a GNBC water bottle sits on the Sunlight Bridge on Crandall Road in Wyoming. This photo was taken during our semi-annual Beartooth and Bighorns trip with Great Rides Fargo, check greatridesfargo.org for more information!! And if you happen to take one of our water bottles on an epic adventure snap a photo and share it with us! We’d love to see where your bike takes you.
Red Ball Project 2018
In the fall of 2018 The Red Ball Project spent a Saturday on our doorstep - literally! This traveling, interactive art exhibit has been all over the world and we were super excited to host them for a day here in Fargo.
Shop Trip to Cuyuna
Work together, ride together! Here a few of our GNBC employees enjoy labor day weekend 2018 riding mountain bike in Cuyuna Lakes. This has become a yearly trip for us to unwind and have some fun at the end of the summer cycling season.
We Love Bikes!
At Great Northern Bicycle Company we love cycling! We love the bikes, the gear, the camaraderie shared in our cycling community and most of all - we love RIDING. We also love to share this passion with you the customer. Stop in and visit us even if just to say hello.
Shafer Trail - Canyonlands
Have we mentioned that bikes can take you to some cool places yet? Well, this is yet another one to add to the list. The Shafer Trail in Canyonlands National Park in Utah takes adventure seekers on an 80 mile route through the park. Instead of seeing the White Rimmed canyons from the popular but crowded overlooks high above the canyon floor this route will take you straight into the thick of it. There, you can yell into the canyons and hear the echos and get a better grasp on just how big everything really is. The route is best traversed by a mountain bike as you’ll encounter rocky, rough roads where the big tires and suspension becomes a necessity. Ambitious riders can tackle the route in a day and even turn it into a 100 mile ‘century’ ride. Those who want to take it slower can make a weekend of it and camp in designated spots along the trail with the appropriate permits. A few of us at the shop have done this ride a number of times and it gets more amazing each time! This photo was from our latest attempt and completion during our staff trip to Moab, UT in the fall of 2018.
E-Bikes Are Getting Everyone's Attention!
These days e-bikes are getting everyone’s attention! Here a Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0 is posed with some Street Art nearby in Downtown Fargo, ND. We love electric assist bikes for many reasons but it can be summed up with one quote - “It’s you, only faster!” If you are curious about electric pedal assist bikes stop in and see our selection and take one for a test ride!
Sunset on Another 'Great Ride.'
Our group road rides roll out of the shop from early spring until late fall, until we are just plain out of sunshine. Being out on the open road so much during the year we are treated to a lot of cool sunsets, and this one was no exception. Just another reason we love being outdoors riding our bikes.
